CODES OF REALITY

A cycle made with Anton KalinichevAnt Biolap. My movement is filmed, then handed over to the machine: it comes back as pixel, as binary, as ASCII. Four moving works, minted on Saucery, shown on screen at the Futurist Conference in Canada.

THE BODY HANDED OVER TO THE CODE

Codes of Reality began as a simple exchange: I give the movement, Anton gives the language. The camera records a gesture that belongs to a body — and the algorithm answers with a gesture that belongs to a system. Neither of us owns the result.

Each translation strips something away. Pixel keeps the weight, binary keeps only the decision, ASCII keeps the rhythm of breathing. What survives every reduction is the thing we were looking for: the code of a reality that stays recognisable even when the image no longer is.
